Iron Knights of the First Legion

I'm very proud of these models because they represent the culmination of learning across many different Grimdark Compendium courses which allowed me to experiment and try new things whilst constructing a vision and narrative for these lads.

Centurion models have a mech vibe. I asked myself "How would Knightly Dark Angels space marines come to find themselves bearing this kind of armour?". And so were born the Iron Knights of the First Legion - a unit of the Deathwing whose members have been blessed by the Omnisire for sacrifice and service to the Mechanicum. With that idea in mind, I wanted a "mechanical" vibe. Big, bulky mech gothic space knights. Realistic looking metallic shell, dark angels green, a touch of stylization, but battered, worn and weathered after centuries of service. Hello lacquer paints - Mr Color specifically gave me the perfect foundation to bring these models to life. Combined with some deliberate and selective application of Villainy Ink Decrepit Filth and Goons Grime, I landed on just the right mix of metal shine and grime. Hope you like them.
